Erica Reevey, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is not just a therapist; she's a force in the world of mental health, spearheading change and breaking barriers. As the co-founder and CEO of Essential Embrace Healing, Erica holds licenses in several states, including Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and Texas. Her journey is marked by a decade of unwavering dedication to mental health services, complemented by a rich educational background.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies from Berea College in 2010 set the stage for Erica's impactful career. Following this, she earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville in 2013, and she's currently on the verge of completing her Doctoral Degree in Social Work by May 2024. Additionally, Erica holds a Master in Arts of Spirituality from Bellarmine University, showcasing the breadth of her knowledge.
Before embracing therapy, Erica navigated the challenging terrain of Child Protective Services, initially aspiring to become a child advocacy lawyer. However, her journey took a profound turn as she discovered her true calling lay in connecting with people's stories beyond courtrooms. Erica's practice is a testament to her belief in the inherent value of every individual, and she is passionate about helping others feel seen and heard in their authentic truth.
Erica's commitment extends to the well-being of fellow therapists and mental health practitioners. Recognizing the importance of genuine therapeutic support, she values an environment where she can be a client in need, not just a fellow therapist. Having walked the path of both therapist and client, her motto "KEEP GOING" embodies her approach to professional practice.
In addition to her role at Essential Embrace, Erica wears multiple hats – Co-Founder of The Black Counseling & Consulting Collective, Founder & CEO of Therapists Need Therapy Too, Clinical Supervisor in multiple states, member of Zeta Phi Beta, and more. She sits on various community advisory boards related to mental health and wellness, bringing her expertise to the forefront. Her specialties include providing therapy, mentorship, and supervision for mental health providers, focusing on youth and adolescent therapy, trauma therapy, Black mental health, clinical social work, mental health program development.
As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Louisville, Erica contributes to shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. Beyond her professional pursuits, she is a dedicated mom and wife, with a love for travel that led her to start a therapist who travels "brand.”
With an eye on the future, Erica envisions herself as a guest professor traveling to different colleges and universities worldwide, starting a podcast, writing a book, and expanding her investment portfolio. Her journey is one of resilience, authenticity, and a relentless pursuit of growth, making her a remarkable figure in the field of mental health.
